At Jaipuria Playgroup, we believe that birthdays and festivals should be more about giving rather than receiving. Each festival has a deep value behind it; we try to ensure that that value is not lost in the festivities. Taking this thought forward, the festival of Eid Al Adha was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and learning, albeit virtually. The importance of the festival was explained to the children – Eid ul Adha being a festival of sacrifice, it tells us to sacrifice our negative thoughts and feelings and vow to make our lives meaningful and useful to others.
This was followed by an art and craft activity where children made a “star-moon wall hanging” through paper tearing technique. Children were also encouraged to make Rouhafza and open sandwiches with their parents.
The celebration ended with a short story on the value of sharing on festivals.
